We will accept intern applications for the 2023-24 academic year until September 27, 2023 via ERAS, an Electronic Residency Application Service. We use third party software (Thalamus) to manage our interview scheduling. All positions will be filled via the NRMP Match.
Effective the 2023-24 recruitment season (for 2024 Match), we will utilize ERAS Program Signaling as part of our holistic review process, but please be assured that we will review all applications, regardless of signaling preference.
AAMC Careers in Medicine recently shared interview resources with fourth-year medical students to provide guidance and effective practices for the components of residency interview season:
We will complete a holistic review of application files once they are complete with the following items:
ERAS Applications must be submitted to us by September 27, 2023, all supplemental materials (MSPE, Letters of Rec, Personal Statement, Medical School Transcript, and USMLE Transcript) must be received no later than October 4, 2023. Any applications that remain incomplete after 10/4/23 will not be reviewed and will be removed from consideration.
International medical graduate applicants must be ECFMG certified by the NRMP ranking deadline (February) to be considered. Current international medical students must be certified by June in the year they graduate. We require at least one year of clinical experience in the U.S. or in a health care system similar to the U.S. (e.g., Australia, Ireland, and the like) and have graduated from medical school in the last 2 years. Please note that we do not count externships, observerships, or research work as clinical experience.
Applications for PGY-2 and PGY-3 positions will be accepted (outside of ERAS) if openings arise. We recommend that interested candidates check with us in late February/early March, as that is when we would begin our recruitment process if openings do become available.
Once the review of a candidate's file has been completed by our selection committee, the candidate will receive an e-mail with our decision. Those invited to interview will schedule using the Thalamus online scheduling platform. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications, we are unable to interview all applicants, but please be assured that you will receive e-mail notification from us, regardless of our decision.
Our interviews will be held on Mondays and Fridays, with an occasional Wednesday, from 8:00am - 2:30pm PST. Please review our statement regarding our reasons for remaining virtual for the interview season.
Interview day schedule is in progress, and will be updated as we have more information.
For the 2024-25 season, all of our interviews will be conducted virtually. However, we recognize that some may choose to travel to Portland on their own time to further explore what Portland has to offer and offer these travel resources for review:
